Anyone who knows us knows that we're not gifted in the green fingered
department, however, we're forced to garden out of necessity rather than choice. The neighbours awful children spent years
climbing on our fence and smashing it to pieces, only for them not to pay to have it repaired. Now it's in tatters with the
storms, my dogs are repaying the favour by doing thier abloutions in thier garden whenever they escape. What goes around comes
around! But we have a serious message to tell you about the lying website we ordered from which still has £400 of my money
for a fence we cant use.....
When it comes to buying fencing on the internet there are some great deals around. I had initially looked at buying it
locally at one of the garden centres, when I went to the redwoods garden centre in Lancaster they told me that they would match any prices I got online, which made me wonder why they didn't
just have an online store themselves to maximise their turnover. However, I thought I'd just go direct to an online site and
save myself the bother of having to trek back to the garden centre. How I regrett that mistake.
Firstly I couldn't place the order online as the website wasn't working properly. They had a phone line so I called it
and they assured me someone would call me back, they also confirmed what was in the fencing pack I wanted to order. I never
recieved a call so I rang againg and still didn't get a call back. In the end their website was working a couple of days later
so I ordered the fencing pack, then had to wait a couple of weeks for it to be delivered, which wasn't ideal. Not only did
the delivery people dump the stuff on my front garden for any passing thief with a huge truck to take advanatge of, they also
dumped the palate on there too for me to dispose of! When I called to say my order was incomplete, I was put through to a
snot nosed web manager called Miles, who said that there weren't posts in my pack and what was my problem. My problem was
I was misinformed by their telesales people, they were going to charge me another thiry odd quid for delivery of the missing
parts I was expecting (plus the price of the posts),and I had a load of fence panels I couldn't use!
They've promised to take away the panels and refund me (after a fight and threatening them with disputing the payment
with the credit card company) but I'm sill waiting. The offending company is .....
Buy fencing direct - DONT USE THEM!!!!!
I've since been out looking at paving, gravel and decking solutions, as well as fencing, and have calculated who
are best - depending on what quantities you are buying. Plus who are open to a bit of negotiation, which you certainly don't
get when you're dealing with a grumpy call centre person working long hours on minimum wage dishing out duff information!
Drop me a line with an idea of what you're after, if you'd like us to make you a recommendation of a local garden and lanscaping
supplier.
